Westside Neighbor Care Center - Ground Breaking ------------------------------------------------------------ Saturday, July 30, 2005 ![]() The Nueces County Commissioners Court, and officials of the Nueces County Hospital District and CHRISTUS Spohn Health System broke ground on Tuesday, November 10, 2004, for a new 13,000 square foot Westside Neighbor Care Center to be located at the intersection of Greenwood Drive and West Point Road on Corpus Christi's Westside. The new medical clinic will replace a temporary facility located on nearby Bloomington Street. The $2.9 million Westside Center will be constructed and owned by Nueces County Hospital District. Following completion, the Center will be leased and operated by CHRISTUS Spohn under an agreement with the Hospital District. The Hospital District has a long-term agreement with CHRISTUS Spohn to provide healthcare services for the County's 15,000+ indigent and needy residents. The census tract surrounding the new Center is a federally-designated Medically Underserved Area. About 1,400 persons in the Hospital District's Nueces Aid Program (an indigent health care program) reside in the Center's immediate service area. The area surrounding the Center has the 4th largest concentration of Nueces Aid enrollees. |
